If I understand how Photobucket works, then the caps should come back up tomorrow (the 20th.) Pretty sure it’s the 20th of every month because I originally joined Photobucket on the 20th of whatever month it was. Seems like there was a month or two there where I didn’t get any e-mails about hitting that 10gb bandwidth cap, so maybe it won’t be too unmanageable all of the time. At any rate, caps should come back up tomorrow. I’m still pondering future prospects for this blog, but mostly in the abstract right now. And I don’t know what series of reblogs led to 2,600 notes on Nostalgic Imagery 4, but thanks!
Now *that* was an episode! I really enjoyed this one. I mean, I’ve enjoyed all of them, but this one really seems to stand out to me.
In the first episode I was missing “Moonlight Densetsu,” but “Moon Pride” is definitely growing on me. Loved seeing Nephrite and Zoisite. And *my ship!* There’s wind in the sails again. That choral transformation theme is starting to give me chills every time. And Mars kicked ass, so that’s always fun.
Even the animation seemed to have a little more life and pop to it, though I’m still not in love with the art style as a whole. I went back to look at the Sugimoto episodes from Stars, just to see if nostalgia might have been skewing my judgment. Gotta say…I think I preferred the Sugimotos. (And I pray that I never have to use that sentence again.) I don’t like to get overly hung up on the art style. Crystal is still nice and art is a highly subjective medium, but I prefer what I prefer. And though I’m enjoying Crystal regardless, I know that I could have gotten even more joy if I were enjoying the art too.
Regardless of any flaws, I still thought this one was a top-notch episode. A familiar story with an all-around strong presentation. It manages to hit the nostalgia while also injecting a lot of freshness. Looking forward to more.
Oh, boy. Looks like we just hit the opening of another Photobucket billing cycle. Enjoy the caps for this brief window until they inevitably draw 10GB of bandwidth. If I had money to burn, I’d totally upgrade my account, even though I’m not actively uploading right now, just to keep the caps available for you guys. I’m brainstorming for alternatives, but I don’t like any of them very much.
And now a test in the other direction. My file is 3387 x 1080…
…aaaand tumblr’s largest is 1280 x 408. Even more disappointing than the previous test.
I mean, really. I couldn’t even just do regular screencaps. Those are 1920 x 1080. I’ve gotta figure something out for this.
